Our dogs have been urinating on our living room carpet when we are not home. I have tried a few different cleaners to clean and deodorize but nothing seems to work. Do you know of anything that works to eliminate the odor... it is really disgusting!

I have had the same problem and I use vinegar, just straight vinegar. The vinegar smell lingers a bit, but doesn't last long-term. It helps a ton. For the stain, try using Monster Green. It's only $2 at Wal-Mart for a decent size spray bottle.
Another thing that helps, is honestly, to buy a kennel. My puppy didn't understand the concept of potty training and/or waiting. He had accidents all the time, anywhere he pleased. It was a pain, whining, barking, peeing, but after a couple of weeks in a kennel, he now knows to hold it.
I leave the kennel door open even when I am home, and he'll go right in and take a nap. So they do get used to it, even though they hate it at first. Definitely worth investing in one. However, I would keep the dogs in seperate kennel's side by side, if possible, they need their own space.

Blot up an wet/fresh urine with paper towel (I usually stand on it). Then use Simple Solution (found at any pet store) and make sure it covers every place the urine has gone. It is an emzyne cleaner and has to touch every where the urine has touched to be effective. You can also use a black light to see where the urine stains are. Since it sounds like your dogs have done this for a while, I would suggest getting your carpet cleaned after you treat all the spots with Simple Solution first. You might also want to consider crating your dogs when you are not home to avoid the problem continuing.

I have 6 dogs and have found that Simple Solution works better than anything since it doesn't just "cover" the smell - it gets rid of it.

Try using a product called Petastic. It can be found in some pet supply stores. Nature's Miracle used to be good, but the company's owners split the company -- one took the name, and the other took the formula. Petastic got the formula. Make sure you saturate the stains THROUGHLY and let it dry completely. That should work. You may want to shampoo the carpet after it is dry to remove any residual cleaner smell.

The best method and cleaner for eliminating dog urine stench is vinegar and water, it is the most natural and effective cleaner that i have found. After applying solution to stained or smelly area then use Oxi clean to remove stain.

The man who steamed my carpet after a litter of puppies were running around said dont use vinegar. To take peroxide and spray it on the stains or fresh spot after drying it with paper towels. The type they use is stronger than regular peroxide but it works. You cannot see any stains in my carpet and the smell is gone.

Have you tried the Urine Gone "As Seen on TV"? I use it all the time. It really gets rid of the odor. I do have to re-apply every once in a while.

All these Ideas are great..But it's the Padding that smells.....if you do any of these things...at least replace the padding (you can cut out the soilded areas and replace the padding there, then re-lay the cleaned carpet.
