My due date is April 8th and i'm having a real hard time buying out fits. My first baby was born in November so i knew i needed warm clothing and heavy blankets for Winter. Since this baby will be born in early Spring i know the weather may still be chilly but warm up in May. I'm confused about clothing, how much is too much?
Your help please!!

My baby was born April 7th. At first she did not wear anything but the usual sleepers, gowns, etc. I LOVED the one piece outfits that had long legs, but short sleeves. They were perfect for her early days, and even into summer. But summer she was bigger and I had a bunch of 3/6 month one piece summer outfits. Very cute. BUT my hot blooded Italian husband likes to keep the A/C going strong, so when we did not go anywhere, she was still usually in pants and short sleeves.
Spring is a great time to have a baby. But tricky because of the weather. I would say go middle of the road. long legs, short sleeves. But have a few short outfits for any unusually warm days, and a few l long sleeve shirts in case it gets chilly.

I would not buy beyond summer though. My daughter was VERY long (95th percentile) and practically skipped the 6/9 month clothes. she was ready for 6/9 stuff when it was still warm out and all I had in that size was fall. Now that it is cold, she is in mostly 12 months, but has slowed down on growing......she will probably finish out the winter in 12 months.

Good Luck.

Congrats!!! I'm having the same problem. My son is due at the end of March (we'll probably induce at the beginning of March though). What I've done is just kept the tags on everything for now just to see what the weather is going to do. But I understand that I'll want to have everything washed and ready to go by the time I go to the hospital.

I had bought some of the footie things that are fuzzy and warm, but I've also got some of the more cottony ones that are thinner and you can also put onesies on under them if it is a little cooler.

My rule of thumb is to go ahead and wash the havier ones and have them ready since at this time of year, the weather can go back and forth. Besides, you can always save them for someone else when they have a baby too and just tell them that they were washed once and never worn by the baby.

Depends on your lifestyle, will you be taking baby out a lot or no? I didn't take either of mine out much and frankly it's not worth the time to dress baby up in nice little outfits to just be around the house (other than when you have visitors). I'm due with my 3rd April 10th and am planning to stick to gowns, gowns and more gowns (you don't have to undress/unsnap them for diaper changes!). A couple light recieving blankets to swaddle. A heavier blanket or 2 for chilly days/nights. One or 2 nice outfits for outings/visitors (onsie/pants combos, probably a lighter weight long sleeve) I'll probably just use a blanket for outings as sweaters are a pain to put on a floppy newborn :) As far as I can see, 3-6 month will be all summer weight stuff and the 6mo + will be going back to fall/winter. Good luck and congrats!

My baby is due February 18, and I'm using gowns and onesies. The baby is so little and you're not taking her/him out too much, so just get short and long sleeve of each kind. I have a few pants to go with the onesies and I have tons of receiving blankets. Your baby will tell you if he/she is hot when that time comes. You should dress the baby like you are dressed. That's what I've always been told and it actually worked with my daughter. Depending on where you live April is still a cool month for most of us. Hope this helps.

Well I think with the weather these days its hard to tell, Im in MI and it just started to get cold a few weeks ago. So it could be winter thru April. Be smart and stick with jeans and t-shirts for now and some 3/4 or light long sleeve shirts. And then you can always wear a coat over if too chilly.

sleepers, sleepers and more of them they are your best friend if the baby is just in the house they are fine untill my kids were 6 months i only maybe had 5 outfits for them if we just were hanging around the house they were in a clean sleeper ..they are so little they dont need jeans and all that things they are most comfortable in sleepers i would think anyway..i would still buy warm outfits because the summer ones you can always just keep them in a diaper shirt for around the house and again buy maybe 5 outfits for going out and about
