I work on small engines. I would not because in doesn't have the weight to cling to the chain and you will dull the chain very fast.I can suggest straight 30 weight oil this will due just fine.The 2 stoke oil is very light so it can get through the carbureter.

No! Please don't. Use the chain oil, it's a different type of oil that's heavier than 2-stroke oil and made specially for lubricating chains. Also, if it's a new chainsaw with a warranty, using the wrong type of oil will null the warranty.

david is right that oil is kinda thin..what i do is when i change the oil in my pick up i put it in a 1 gal. jug its a little dirty but it workes very well!!
