All of the suggestions given will work well, but did you know you can make it easy on yourself by coating the grout with a sealer after you clean it. You can pick up a grout sealer at any home improvement store for a few bucks.
Once its' applied you'll reduce the frequency of heavy cleaning.

You can get a grout pen from a tile shop to re colour it,this will take time but is a little easier than trying to clean it.

try rough sand paper fold it in half and rub it down the seams then across the seams. this way of cleaning has the best result, after cleaning about three or four times (a couple of years worth)you just have to apply new grout.

you can either use a scubbing brush and some ajax (do they still make that?) or something like oxy clean - a powder that you put on it and add water and scrub hard! or you can get a grout pen from most diy stores and repaint it to make it look fresh again!

There's lots of products on the market but the old fashioned ones are the best!
I use vinegar, lemon juice and borax (bought from all good chemists). brush on with a toothbrush, leave on for a minute, wipe off with a damp soft cloth.

Any of the above - but I use a clorox bleaching pen, as I found it works the best - with the least amount of odor and work.
