The tv keeps turning off and on by itself. Nobody is sitting on the remote. The cables have been checked for shorts. And THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT NIGHT.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Did you figure out why it was happening?
Like I said, I've never believed in ghosts, and this is almost enough to get me to start. Any suggestions/reassurance that I'm not going crazy...

Again, nobody or nothing is messing with the remote. The cables have been checked. And fyi, the tv is less than six months old. If it was something wrong with the tv, wouldn't it also act up during the day time, not just at night?

Sounds like a fussy spirit. Does it channel surf? Tell you what, make it pay the cable bill and I bet it stops. I'm serious about this. Sometimes they have to be put in their place and know whose stuff it is and who is boss.I wouldn't put up with it for sure.

I ad the same exact problem. I'd be in my bed sleeping, no one else home and the tv would go on, quite loud. It freaked me out too. Of course I shut it off and then a little while later the same thing. This went on for days. I had the repair man come over and he said it was short circuiting and this is very common for a tv to do that. Well he fixed the circuit board and it stopped doing it but then a few months later the picture tube went and so the tv went in the trash. If you don't have the money to get it fixed then just unplug it till you get up again in the morning. I hope this puts your mind to rest. Obviously the repairman did not thoughly check it out.

Does it always happen around the same time...my friend says every night at 10 if all the lights are not off and every one is in bed something will start dropping in the sink when they check there is always a fork in the sink even if they had put them all away one will be there...this sound will continue until all the lights are off. And has never started before 10pm..

Okay I believe in ghosts but I wouldn't jump to conclusions blaming it on ghosts until something a little more than your TV flicking happens. I wouldn't worry about it but don't ever think your going crazy because of something like that.

Something similar happened to me years ago but with the radio. It kept turning on and off by itself. This was witnessed by a few people so at least I knew I wasn't going crazy. I learned to live with this "ghost, spirit..etc" When my radio turned itself on I used to say "Hi" then I would proceed to carry on a conversation.."How are you tonight? Isn't there somewhere else you'd rather be?" Eventually it stopped all by itself and we moved from the house.
PS: We also had lit candles disappear, doors slam and appliances(can opener..etc) start up by themselves.

Something might be wrong with your TV. I don't think that a ghost might be watching TV late at night! Do you have a pet in your house? Maybe it steps on the buttons...
Well, This makes me think about strange things....

Check out the tv set and the remote for shorts of anykind. If they are good, have fun with your ghost, they're fun!

Well ,l i do believe in lots of activity coming from the "spirit world" do you have a child in the house? Some times a child's pent up energy can do strange things. You could hire a ghost hunter.

I've always believed in ghosts. I'm not saying that they turn on t.v.s and stuff, that sounds like a physical problem w/ the set.
