Hi Panther, It seems that the majority did not read your question properly, and didn't get your point!
I completely agree with what you are getting at! As you already know, your friends call you haggis as a term of endearment; and it is also purely just a nickname chosen in association with a prominent part of your character. For instance, as a child, I had a scottish friend that we called 'Scotty.' We also had an Indian colleage who wore a turban, and sometimes we referred to him as the 'turbanator,' he took his nickname with the grace in which it was given. Some Irish people are referred to as Paddy. I have a very large friend we call 'Slim.'
As I have already said, nicknames are normally chosen for a particular part about a person that stands out.
I do believe that the big brother racist issue was really unfounded. The main issue that should have been acknowledged was that there was some bullying going on. Trouble with this country now is that we are embroiled in political correctness and it is a crock of sh*t! It is a subject that entails double standards. That is to say, political correctness protects only the foreigners.
We have ended up being the second class citizens.
Everyone else but the British are allowed to say virtually what they want, also preach and practise their religion without hindrance. This is a major injustice!
All the best Haggis! :o) x

Aye Suzie lass, your stuff is always a delight. I'm not Scottish but between you, Craig and Billy, I sometimes wish I were. By the way Craig says "doughnut" is a term for a "rude" part of the body, as in ,"raffle yer doughnut" so what is "doughnut hurling"? Also I "understood" what the Scotsman was saying. Does this mean I have been watching the ' Late Late Show with T.V.'s own Craig Ferguson" too much?

Dont think its racist and I would not be offended as the British dont know how to grow haggis! Smile and carry on as usual and they will get fed up and revert to your correct name - unless it is Haggis of course??

It depends how it is meant by your friends and how sensitive you are.
Sometimes something can be racist but not offensive.
Everyone in the world is different and we all have different cultures and backgrounds. We should be able to laugh about our differences in such a way that we arent being insulting but just acknowledging that we are diferent.
But its out of order is you say something and mean it to be spiteful

Depends really...like I'm Anglo-Welsh in England, and I don't mind being called Taffy, but "sheepshagger" is where I draw the line, even my Englsih mum thinks that's wrong, so really it's your choice
I can't see Haggis as that bad, but it's your choice, I get annoyed at "sheepshagger" because that implies that we all have sex with sheep

It sounds like your so-called friends are worse than Adolf Hitler (in his earlier days). They should be locked up for ten years and given hard labour. They should also be castrated just in case any future children of these abhorent, hate-filled racists turn out to be chips off the old block. Life must be Hell for you!

It sounds like a bad joke to me, yeah, it is kindof racist. I would be offended, but mostly because I know what haggis is...
If it really bugs you just tell your friends. If they are truly your friends, they will stop.

Just be grateful that anyone says anything to you - there are a lot of English, Welsh and Irish who are fed-up with Scots taking over the British parliament and government whilst having their own parliament that the other nations cannot be represented in, yet alone how some bag on about how great Scotland is but are not stupid enough to live there!
