I got a virus on my computer from Myspace. It started sending me all these popups that said yay. Now I'm not getting any popups anymore but I still cant open my virus protection. I have McAfee and its not worling. Whenever I try to open it, it does not open. My internet has slowed down. Every once in a while an alert thing from McAfee pops up that says there is a suspect file on your computer. A virus scan is recommended. But whenever I click on scan nothing happens. I cant tell my parents becuase then they will have find out I have a myspace and I will get in big trouble. What should I do?

hey man, listen.
here's what i usually do : 1- do a system restore to the time be4 that happened from Start-> accesories->System tools
2- install an antivirus (Kaspersky recomended, truley helped me out ), and run a scan.
it removes both adaware, worms & trojans.

if you fail to do a scan from your profile, i suggest opening another profile and performing it from there

Email me and tell me what you did, and if it worked.
Glad 2 help xo

First of all, ininstall Myspace. If you have the McAfee disk, try uninstalling and re-installing it. If it still doesn't open for a scan, uninstall it and get Avast. It's free and will find the virus. Remove it when found. Use the uninstall feature in McAfee.

do you have a disc for your antivirus program?? if so, put it in and run it. if not--can you delete the myspace ???? i had to get them offa my computer totally--not even keep AN ACCOUTN THERE----oops, sorry....
if there is a security built into your computer--at the start button, find your control panel--find how to grab your programs without going thru your browser--and see if your security center has a way to kill the virus--a way around the browser controls to access the antivirus program. if that does not work, you may have to go back to recovery---but try to find an expert in copmputer repair--geek squad may be an option--i have a programmer friend who helps me unbug my system. while you are antivirusing, defrag and registry repair and set up a routine maintenance schedule for yopurself to do at certain intervals--every day/week/month--to keep your computer in optimal condition......

The best thing you can do is go to avast.com and download their home edition anti virus program. I tried Norton and Mcafee, but they both had their own bugs and problems. I am very pleased with avast, and it is free!
Good luck!

Look for a load avg and try scanning the computer with that. Then run a good diskcleanup, empty your deleted items, and reboot your pc. Then scan your pc again

You have to buy a virus deleting program. unless you have the bought Mcafee you cant do anything about it. the one that comes with a free trial will only scan not delete the virus. and good luck with your parents. : )

You could use the restore or go back function to go back to a day when it didn't have the virus. You will lose any files after that day.

Your Mcaffee wont get rid of it because its NOT a virus! Its adware! Try some adware and spyware removal tools.

we had to reboot the whole computer when it happened to us. try defraging it first. it might work. to reboot it you trun it off or restart it. unplug everything like speakers, printer, and even things you added to the cpu. it depends on your computer but i would suggest finding out how to do it. everything you have ever saved on the computer will be erased though. good luck
