Example, the tv hit show 24, the Muslims are upset they are being used as terrorists on the show and they are afraid to go grocery shopping for fear of how people might react to them.

Is it right to propogate this type of thing on tv? That's only one example. I mean we can extent this to violence and sex and moral/social values etc...but my point is really how can you say on one hand we should behave/act this way, when on the other hand what we do and project in our media is totally the opposite?

How can we truly expect anyone, especially children to "read between the lines" of what is real and what isnt?

I guess I should add that the tv station is saying people should "know" that this is only for entertainment purposes and not "real"...they've used "Russians/Germans/etc." in thier plot lines...but comeon...it's a little irresponsible considering you are at war with a country to be arrogant enough to expect people to be able to separate fact from fiction with regard to this particular issue.

Generally children over the age of 7 , unless they have a mental disability, can differentiate between real and fantasy and the same goes for most intelligent adults no matter what nation they come from.

So you would then get rid of most suspense fiction books then or detective stories or any book that you decide demeans people. Pretty much lets out most of literature , fiction and non fiction.

If you or some national groups can't differentiate the difference between real and fantasy then I suggest strongly you not watch programs like 24 or csi , the news.

Sometimes, but media is a brain washing tool, for most. I think 24 is OK though, there not say nothing that the news isn't saying so whats the difference

Environment and surroundings have a lot to do with what people perceive to be real. Exposing kids to different things will allow them to see many different sides of situation, the best thing is what reality do you want them to perceive as good...this is what you should expose them to.
