In this case, the colored sands are just poured into the bottle while holding the bottle at different angles, or straight up, to form whatever shape you want that color layer to make.
If the sand is poured gently, the next layer won't disturb the one before it.

These appear to be fine-grain "play sands" that can be purchased at craft and hobby stores.

After the layers are poured (or sometimes after just one or more layers depending on the effect desired), long rods (often pointed) can be pressed down through the layers *along the front* of the glass or plastic bottle to allow some of the other color layers to seep down into the other layers around the rod while it's being inserted and while it's being removed. Doing this creates long lines or patterns of the other colors .... but the ones in this picture didn't add that effect.

Be sure to fill the container *all the way* up before closing off the top... otherwise, the sands can shift when the container is moved and the colors will mix together at their margins.

all you need is a bottle, colored sand and possibly a cork.

Try getting a funnel for the sand, or a piece of rolled up paper.

Fill it up to the top so the sand wont have room to mix and cork it.
You can probably find all these things at A craft store.
