the way I live my life...I put myself through school, worked since I was 13, waited until my 30s to get married, and haven't had any children yet. I am taxed more heavily than most. This is outrageous, since I have never taken a dime from the government, use personal responsibility, and feel that I should not have to pay for those who had the same choices, and chose otherwise. Socially, I am very 'liberal' (which USED to mean conservative) I feel entitled to unwind with a joint or a glass of wine after my day of work, in my own home that has no children. I believe that people should be able to live their lives freely without government involvement in the bedrrom, doctor's office, marriage, etc...as long as it doesn't infringe on someone else's right to do the same. Hence the reason I am no longer a republican, no longer a democrat, and mostly aligned with the libertarian party, although I vote indepent.

I believe if you join the republican or Democrats, you are a narrow minded person, and are part of the problem with this country, not the solution. These are the same people who go to the booths and pull any lever that bears their tickets name on it.For the last 60 years or so, our government has been slowly selling out the American people, no health care system, letting all our jobs go overseas, lying right to are faces, and so on,and so on.All for the mighty bureaucratic dollar. Every year you hear the same thing, how much people are sick of these, out of touch, bone heads that run our country, and every election they get voted right back in to office. How does this happen? Because the only people voting are people that belong to the these two parties, the people that want change don't vote, because they think it wont make a difference. If every one would vote, and an independent got into office, you can bet the other parties would clean up their act, or fall to the way side. People remember, there are more than just the two parties that the government wants you to put into office. We could easily change the piss poor way this country is heading, easily,by not voting for, slick talking, don't give two craps about the American people, born a butt kissing career politician, and vote for someone who actually worked for a living, and actually knows what the people need, into office. We need to put someone into office with their own agenda, instead of the bureaucrats and the very few ,richest people in the world,(who are actually running this country now)!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents were Republican, but I always thought of myself as Democrat until I did my own research on social issues, economics, and the parties. I am now Libertarian. The main reason is I don't think anyone else should decide what you do with your body or money.

I saw Republicans wanted to be very rich and rule the world. I ran away, I want everyone to have equal chance and be able to do it without mockery, judgement.... I do not like people telling me this is the right way or bad way to think about anything. They seem to think they are God's mouthpiece's I do not believe God is that mean and hypocritical. I just believe live and let live as long as you are not doing harm, so I would not have even said how awful I think the noecons anyway are, because the hurts just never stop coming..Mary

I am a conservative Republican.
When I turned 18, I worked in a business during my summers. I ran parts of it and my pay was related to how much money I made. I saw how much I paid in taxes and knew that was unfair.
As I got older, I started to listen to Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives and I agree with them. I cannot remember a time that I have disagreed with Rush. I have with Hannity many times, but not Rush.
I used to be accepting of abortion until I listened to the religious conservatives. I saw how the feminazis behave and I knew that they are my enemy. What really turned me ultra conservative is how the lack of good behavior leads to the need for an abortion.
I listen to conservatives and I stomach listening to liberals. I see the liberals as clueless and power hungry to control our lives.

I was raised by conservative democrat (yes, once that wasn't an oxymoron) parents in a democratic state. My parents are still die hard dem's, but my state is more republican. I switched parties (to republican) in the early 80's as the democratic party seemed to shift more and more to the left. I still vote for dem's in local elections if they seem more qualified, but I can't vote dem in state and federal elections as that is where major deals are made daily according to party affiliation.

I don't see eye to eye with any of them, when I vote I take into consideration what the candidate has done in his / her professional life.

I'm a democrat - and I think the majority of us (Republicans too) are influenced by our parents and the way we were raised - don't you think?
