when i press the botton to open it, it just makes a weird humming sound, but it will not open. I can open it by hand, but i have no idea how to fix the automatic opener.
please help

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me a few weeks ago. Make sure the chain isn't kinked. Also if it does not go up all the way, you might need to increase the up force which is on the main unit. I don't know where you live, but I've been told that significant changes in temperature may cause a problem.

sounds like the drive gear stripped. buy a new one[opener] and have yor door balanced so the new opener wont do the same thing

Hire a garage door repairman. They will find the problem and fix it.

there are an awful lot of variables for this question to be answered here. if you live anywhere near marion ohio i will come and look at it and fix it for gas money. other wise i haven't a clue
