and given an answer that would have been brilliant to the question you THOUGHT you were answering but made no sense in context to the ACTUAL question?

I would definitely file head of household if I were you because you will get a bigger return that way. If you file single they will tax you more.

I would not say I misread a question. I would say that I misunderstood a question and offered a wrong answer. I just edit my response (or delete) once additional details point out my error.

Yes, I have and didn't catch it. The letter was written by a worried Mom and I responded brilliantly as though the asker was a Dad. I got one vote.

I have had that happen allot of times. I always try to find a way to make a joke of it. Humor is always the best way to cover an embarrassing moment.

Sometimes the error is in the question. Last season someone asked if we thought "Christ" would win American Idol instead of Chris.
