His name is David Beckham, and he is only a big news item because of Victoria's ability to manipulate the press. Mohammed Ali (the louiseville lip) generated his own publicity, and is generally regarded as one of the greatest sports personalities of all time. He had everything, charm, charisma, personality, humour, wit wisdom etc. Where as David Beckham may have the looks of Tarzan, but he has been cursed with the voice of Jane :-)

It's David Beckham and he is no way in the same league as Mohammed Ali!!!
He is now an average football (soccer as you say) player who is only famous for being famous and most of his publicity is via his attention seeking wife, Victoria!!
As you may know they are known as "Posh and Becks" in the UK. It is her dream to make it big in the US - has even hooked onto Mr and Mrs Tom Cruise to try to pave her way into the glitterati of Hollywood!!!

Ali is the best ever sports man and beckham is not even a top football player-he is only famous for his looks and not his ability and is only a marketing tool for his new club..

with regards to marketing, David Beckham is as big, yes. Ambassador to the sport, not as big.
We'll just have to wait and see, when he turns up in the states. I don;t think he can make a huge impact presonally, he needs to be playing with more elite players. We all know he doesn't have the pace or strength. His ability to pass must be complemented with like minded players.

DVAVID beckham is his name...and sure, he's past his prime, but he is still good and i hope that he brings a lot more attn to soccer in the US bc it is the greatest game in the world...and in england yeah he is the Ali of england, but he wont be in america-he'll just be the heartthrob of the five or so many years he is here
