I read somewhere that if I run and do push-ups, crunches, and stuff like that, I will develop muscles OVER my fat and so I will never be able to get rid of my belly. Is that really true? I did run 1 mile every single day, for 6 months and I lost 4 inches (from 42 to 38) but no weight, so that seems to contradict the idea that I will never lose my belly! On the other hand, my belly is still at 38, instead of 28. It used to be 28 when I was 28 (18 years ago).

Any ideas what I should/could do? I want to lose 6 inches and 60 lbs. in 6 months. I am 5'7" and I weigh 190 lbs. right now. I eat very little meat (once every two weeks or so). I don't eat fried foods, and I take sugar (a spoon and a half) only in my coffee (one cup every day, 5 to 7 days a week). I am not into cookies, ice-cream, and stuff like that. I walk (not run) about a mile each day, already.

Yea besides cardio, try weight training as well, body building before doing cardio. This increases your metabolism faster and more importantly, patience.

It sounds like you are on the right track. Weight loss like anything else is work. I have been with Weight Watchers for 5 months and to date have lost 42 pounds. Their basic idea is portion control and eating 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day. If you go out to eat a lot you will be very surprised how many calories are on the menu. Go to the restaurants website and check for nutritional information. If they don't publish it don't go there. Also stay hydrated. 6 plus glasses of water per day. Losing your belly fat will happen when you start dropping the weight. Good luck!

The basic answer is that muscle weighs more than fat. So when u exercise and gain muscle, you don't lose weight. You get skinnier but you do not lose weight since you develop muscle.

I see your not really following a good diet plan..Just eating very little meat, fried foods, and sugar wont make you lose weight.
