I have recently switched from using the mini-pill (Cerazette) to the depo-provera jab. I am worried about the side-effects warnings that come with depo, especially that most women experience around 5lb weight gain.
When I was taking cerazette, the only side-effect I had was stopping of my periods. If progesterone-only pills didn't have the weight-gain side effect on me, is it likely that depo won't either? Or is there no relationship between how you react to these drugs?

I was on the depo for about one year. I went from 105 lbs to 115 in that year. It makes you so hungry for some reason. If you're gonna be on it, I would recommend that you watch what you eat. Don't over snack. I was getting these weird cravings for chips so I would eat about a bag a day....not kidding.

It also made me very irratable and moody. I would be depressed one minute and so excited the next! I'm on the pill now and those side effects are completely gone.

Ask your doc to be sure.
