I am Anglo-Welsh, and I don't mind the odd taking the mick out Wales, but comments like "sheep-shagger" are actually offensive, but people don't recognise that.

Also, when Anne Robinson, tried to put Wales in Room 101, she got away with it, and was moreless applauded for it. But if it was any other country, like Ireland, that would never be allowed.

Also, we aren't recognised as a country like Scotland or Ireland.

I hear exactly what you are saying.

Wales was England's first colony, and the English delight in making fun of us.

"Taffy was a Welshman, Taffy was a thief"

"Welsh Leisure Centre? Sheep tied to a post" etc etc

It was totally wrong that Anne Robinson was allowed to get away with the remarks she made about the Welsh which included "What are they for?".

If she had made similar remarks about Jews, Muslims or Pakistanis etc etc she would undoubtedly been (justifiably) pilloried, rather than continue to be employed and paid for by Welsh people through the TV license.

It's like the situation in Celeb Big Brother - Jade et al were justifiably criticised for racist remarks. If they had been made against the Welsh, no doubt, they would have brushed away as "robust banter".

The English media is basically anti-Celt, and as we can see, many of the English are intrinsically racist.

Welsh dislike of the English - and other Celtic peoples - is merely retaliation to the rampant discrimination and contempt thrown at them since and before Wales became a "principality".

By the way, Prince Charles is NOT my Prince of Wales. Let the English pay for their German King. They like the class structure and obsequiousness. Celts, however, are natural egalitarians and like to think for themselves and toady to nobody.

The first time I ever went to Wales was carrying a portakabin on my truck.
I had to deliver it to Bangor. So when I got there I naturally had to ask for directions to a building site.
There were three women and a man stood talking outside the post office, so I approached them and asked. All three started talking gibberish, which I could only assume was Welsh, and pointed into the shop. There no customers in the shop only the lady behind the post office counter, so I asked her the same question. She turned away and walked through the door behind her and never came back!
Anyway I finally got directions off the postman who had just walked in.
This experience, or very similar, was repeated several times over the years. No, I dont discriminate about any race or colour, I just dont like Welsh people

It's one of the few things you can get away with taking the mickey out of nowadays. That and baldness. Imagine how I feel about being an Anglo-Welsh slaphead!!

But hey! Wales has got the best singing voices in the world.

I don't think its discrimination, maybe good natured joking. There are alot of acronyms for many countrys peoples-spicks, wops, etc. Wales is recognized as a country--Charles-Prince of Wales & in line to be King of England.

Every Nation in the world gets the mickey taken out of them by another or others. I'm not saying that it's right - it's a fact of life. Ask yourself who the Welsh like to slag off. I'm Irish so I know all about it but we give as good as we get. Anyway, merry new year - hic!

Bigotry is bigotry no matter who it is aimed at.

Surely you don't expect Anne Robinson to be anything but a poisonous piece of vermin do you??? She's a tabloid journalist for heavens sake!!!

Wouldn't it be nice to be part of a group that is never discriminated against? Too bad that group doesn't exist... and never will.
