How can I keep deer from eating my flowers ?

Does anyone have any ideas for keeping the Deer (and Rabbits)
from eating the tops off all my flowers? I have bought the big white bottle of rabbit repellent at Lowe's and they didn't work. I can't use a fence because the area is spread out. Thanks for any ideas

You know what I have heard works pretty well? Hang bars of smelly soap. I know quite a few instances where it worked to deter the deer. I am not sure if they used a specific brand, but whatever they used it was a very strong odor (not fruity but a soapy odor)

As far as deer go, you really need to plant things they don't like. It can vary from herd to herd though. I learned real quickly what worked and what didn't and being selective with what you plant, does help. I have alot of deer in my yard and they don't touch my garden. Another idea is the tall deer fencing (it's mesh) and almost invisible. Place it around your garden. I had it around my tomatoes last summer and not once did anything get eaten.

For plants deer do not like normally, google "deer resistant plants". Same goes for rabbits.

Some people put that thin mesh like stuff on stakes around each plot of flowers...From a distance you cant really see it, but up close I think it detracts from the appearance of the flowers.
Marigolds repel rabbits, but you'd have to plant a lot of them around your other flowers.
Sometimes dog urine will prevent deer from coming around- depending on how hungry they are..try walking a dog around the yard.
A motion detector that turns on lights would certianly scare them off.

Here's a cheap trick you can try. Hanging human hair, like out of your hairbrush on your plants or in the area. I have also heard you could use soap (barsoap) shavings, or maybe some mothballs.

There's a device, you'll have to google it, that is a lawn sprinkler with a motion sensor just for this - when an animal approaches, it activates the sprinkler and sprays the animal which then scoots
