The ability to stay calm & think quickly. All senses come into play. Observing the situation and surroundings and listening for what you can't see are main ones. Smell and touch also help with the finer points.

In an emergency, my reflexes tend to help me the most. I also seem to know just what to do in a natural disaster type of emergency, even though at other times I don't always remember this information. It's amazing what our minds and bodies can do when we find ourselves in an emergency situation really.

Your third sense is the most important in every situation. You get that feeling in your gut and then you roll to your left or right finding that a sniper just fired and barely missed you. If you wanted a "real" sense then it's your hearing. It'll tell you whats happening even if you aren't there to see it.

Running scenarios through your head, give you something to draw on when it happens. Practice scenarios in your head make you better prepared. Ex.- how to get out of your work if something happens, what would you do if someone was breaking in your home etc, Good Luck
