maybe it's the light that enters your room. you need good daylight coming in to give it bright airy look. try different curtain arrangments. you could try a curtain rod that exposes the top 1/3 of your window to bring light in - or curtains that you can just open during day hours. amazing what light does to a room and to us, to make us feel better. it's a very easy solution to try. hope it works.

Small rooms are a challenge. I'm not sure what you mean by, "it feels dirty," and small is not defined, but I'll give you some pointers.
1. Remove all furniture, remove bedding, window treatments. You should have an empty box when you're done with this step.
2. Vacuum everything - ceiling, walls, floor, closet.
3. Wash down ceiling, walls, floor, etc. with a lemon or pine scented cleaner. I use a mix of water and lemon scented Clorox.
4. When everything is dry. Select a light paint color and paint. Keep the paint a light shade. Dark colors tend to make a room look smaller in most cases. You'll want to use a satin paint.
5. While you're waiting for your paint to dry, clean your matress and box springs. If you can take it outside and beat it with an old tennis racket do it. Shake up the dust and try to vacuum everything away. Get it as clean and dust free as you are able. Then spray with Febreeze. Clean out all dresser drawers and use the same lemon cleaner to wash down the insides of drawers. Before you put everything back de-clutter. If you haven't used something in a year or six months is even better, get rid of it.
6. Set furniture back in the room and restore items to the closet if applicable.
7. Replace bedding with new freshly laundered mattress pad, pillows, sheets, pillow cases, and blankets. Again stick to light colors to give the room an airy light feeling.
8. If the room has a window replace curtains with voile or sheers. If there is a window and there are blinds make sure that they are clean. Blinds should have been removed and cleaned when the room was stripped.
9. Spray the room with Febreeze or if you like pick up a candle with a fresh scent like clean linen.
10. When you have completed all of the above and have your room back together. Keep your room de-cluttered and if it still feels "dirty" you have a problem, because nothing you can physically accomplish will help you.

Go around your room and take off EVERYTHING on shelves, tables, etc. Take down any posters or excessive pictures in the room.
The number one reason for your room to look dirty is because of clutter!
Also, try painting the room a nice, fresh, clean colour such as a pale yellow or lavender. A bright colour will lighten up the room and make it appear larger.

It may feel dirty to you because of too much clutter or just not enough space for your eye to travel. All you have to do is de-clutter stuff you no longer need or want, and organize the things you would like to keep. I myself have grown up in and still have small spaces to deal with and it helps a lot when things are put away.

Maybe you need to paint-in a lighter color. That always helps to make a room seem bigger.
Also, you may need to get rid of excess stuff. There are a lot of options for storage, ie.under bed; baskets, wall shelving.
Take a look at the size of your furniture--perhaps you need to go to something that's a smaller size.
You can also look at mags and find what you want your room to look like and try to copy that style. Good luck!

maybe u should brighten it up a bit.
get rid of clutter, and c that u hav minimum furniture and ornaments etc.
a touch of yellow or your favourite shade of blue would make it a bit more cheerful.
maybe it's the colour of the walls or floor that causes it to look unclean - u could do something about that
hang-up just one or two (not too many) of your favourite pix/ wall-hangings
good luck and have fun!
