It is possible. You root it by setting it upright (point up, flat side down) and then about 1/3 the way up the sides, stick in 3 toothpicks into the seed so you can now support the weight of the seed on the opening of a drinking glass. Set the seed on the opening of the drinking glass with the point up and flat side down. Fill the glass with ordinary tap water until to just comes up and touches the bottom of the seed. Keep the glass full of water like this for about 6 weeks and you will start to see roots forming in the glass. A shoot will begin to emerge shortly thereafter and the seed will look like it's going to split in half. It won't.

Once you have a shoot growing about 2 inches or so in height, transplant the seedling into a pot with rich soil. In the winter, avocados lose their leaves, so don't worry next year when it drops all it's leaves. It will come back in Spring.

yes it is possible you need a warm place and plenty light . Take 2 tooth picks break them in half, push the tooth picks into the avocado about half way up get a small jar fill with water then place the avocado on top off the jar , they don´t take long to root . Once you see the root coming through put into a pot if you have a window ledge that give´s plenty light even better I have 3 at the moment one is about 4to 5 feet tall with great big wide leaves . never had any fruit from them , but nice to look at

Yes but could be difficult in UK. I used to whilst living in Africa. Remove stone and by using two toothpicks (one inserted either end of stone) balance the pip over a glass of water allowing the stone to touch the water. Sit back and wait and in time the stone will split and the first sign of growth will appear. Should you manage to get the plant growing outside then you will have to wait about 7 years for fruit!!!

Yes. I have grown many, some germinated in my compost bins! In England you just need to grow them in a frost free area with plenty of light, but not outside. They make lovely plants for a conservatory or sun room or by a large window. They will grow tall but if you prune out the growing tip regularly they will become nice and bushy.

Put it in shallow bowl with fine stone like the stuff in fish tanks, put water in it and place pit (avocado stone) on the fine stone keep it by light and water it will grow.

yes, my mom does it. I think she pokes three toothpicks into the seed so it does not fall to the bottom of the cup its in, and she keeps it submerged in a clear cup of water. It takes a long time but eventually the seed splits in half, grows roots and turns into a plant.
