Jovian is not a nickname, but the adjectival form for Jupiter.
Jupiter has a faint planetary ring system composed of three main components: an inner torus of particles known as the halo, a relatively bright main ring, and an outer "gossamer" ring.
Jupiter itself may contain a relatively small rocky core, surrounded by dense metallic hydrogen, with further layers of liquid hydrogen and gaseous hydrogen. There is no clear boundary or surface between these different phases of hydrogen; the conditions blend smoothly from gas to liquid as one descends.

So here are your quick answers.. ;)
Jupiters's nickname is giant planet, gas planet and some
There are three rings around jupiter..Jupiter's rings are made up of fine dust particles (average size a few
microns (that's tiny!), in contrast to Saturn's rings, which are made
up of mostly pebble-to-boulder size objects). And unlike Saturn's rings
(which are composed primarily of ice), Jupiter's rings are made of rocky
material (in powdered form). It appears that this ring material escapes
after some time and so must be continually replenished, possibly from
meteor bombardment of some of Jupiter's moons or perhaps from material
ejected by volcanoes on Jupiter's moon Io
Jupiter's atmosphere includes complicated molecules such as ammonia and methane, as well as simple molecules such as helium, hydrogen, and sulfur. The composition also includes exotic molecules such as germain. (and for more information about jupiters composition go to http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/Wingmakers/The%20planet%20Jupiter.html )

Well, I have called it the big bully, however that was just me and nothing official. I called it that becuase it's gravitational forces did not allow a planet to form where the astroid belt is now.
Others have answered the rest of your questions better than I could.

All you wanted to know about Jupiter, but were afraid to ask:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter
(well, almost everything).
No nickname, although I've heard king of planets, the giant planet, the big one (from hindi culture).
Named after the Latin god Iuppiter, assimilated to the Greek Zeus.
