I support gay marriage because:
Gay couples cannot file joint tax returns, and usually pay higher taxes than they would if they were able to marry.
If two gay people are in a committed relationship and one becomes ill, the other partner can be denied hospital visitation since they are not related.
If a gay partner dies, the surviving partner can inherit their estate but are taxed at the highest rate since they are not a spouse (and oftentimes lose their home due to the tax burden).
If a gay partner dies the surviving partner cannot receive pension or social security benefits, and if the surviving partner inherits a retirement plan it is also taxed because the surviving partner is not related.

Edit> The answerer above mine [thankgodformaryjane] is either ignorant of the facts or intentionally lying when they state "Think about it, NO other animal IN THE WHOLE WORLD mates with the same sex. Ever." If they are ignorant, they can look here to make themselves less so:

This is tough, one of my children is gay and in a committed relationship. I have always believed in same sex marriage and until my children's generation all of our family marriages were from 20 to 61 years long. So I am not sure I have an answer. But as I write about it I would say yes. Love is love, commitment is commitment.

I do have a theory that the spread of homosexuality is to hold down the population numbers on earth. Fewer birth children and more adoptions.

Was it MaryJane that said no one with the exception of humans have same sex, sex?? Wrong wrong wrong. She needs to watch some PBS and animals documentaries.

Yes, I do support it but I would not involve with it myself because I do believe marriage is a problem for 3/4 of those who adhere to it. Personally, I don't find that important except for taxes and few others couple's supports. Love as nothing to do with marriage or not. There will be always money involve with the other 1/4 that are not divorced but sticks together by obligations or for the children.

I am totally in support of gay marriages. People have the right to live as they want! I am a lesbian and been in a long term relationship for 4 years and married for sightly more than a year. Just over a century ago, people of different races were not allowed to marry, but things change, people realized discrimination was wrong and they were allowed to marry. Why is it that just because two people of the same gender are in love we don't get the same rights as a man and a woman who are together. Love is blind it sees no gender, race; it just sees the soul

Support...everyone has the right to be happy and live their lives the way they choose. I have heard or read or something (don't remember where) that 28% of animal species are bi-sexual. Among them are the giraffe, penguin, dolphin, chimp...so it's not necessarily a human trait, we are believe it or not part of the animal kingdom.
A second part to look at- and meaning no offense, is there are a lot of very hot, sexy men out there who are gay. Think that if they weren't...a lot of us ugly, fat, or unattractive guys wouldn't ever get a chance at getting a woman. Of course, that does sound a bit shallow, but attraction is part of the love. But then, love can truly sometimes be...Blind.

Personally, I support it. Love is love. No one said it right to marry the opposite sex. And for the people who define it as the union between a man and woman, that is God's opinion. Think for yourself and you will see that this is just another form of discrimination.

I support gay marraige. American communities need to uphold our value of the family unit, and as long as we oppose gay marriage, we leave 5% of our neighbors in limbo.

Where I live - Netherlands - gay marriage is legal. It causes no problems for anyone and people are used to mind their own business. It works well and I hope other countries will follow.
