Depends if it is a rectangle or circle or whatever ....
Rectangle :- length in metres x breadth in metres
= area in sq metres
Circle :- Formula is Pi xr2 (not sure how to type this)
Pi is 3.14285
r is radius of circle,
area of circle is 3.14285 x radius in metres x radius in metres
= area of circle in sq metres
