My son has been messing around on my PC and changed some settings. When I minimize a program or an open document it completely disappears rather than showing on toolbar at bottom of the screen and I can't even find a way to see it to maximise it again. Any you help me to change this back. I've tried everything I know.

I can still see the toolbar at the bottom of the screen but not the open program icons that are normally displayed there if you have things open.

go into add/remove programs and uninstall the toolbar. Then reinstall the toolbar. Its easier, because if he accidentaly changed something and you can't fix it. Uninstall and reinstall it. At the bottom there are >> or < on either side of the bottom toolbar when you click on it, it opens and shows all the icons within the bottom toolbar. Take care Heather

Sounds like he just moved it down to where it can't be seen. Just hover around down there, and you'll see the outline of it. Look for the arrow, and just drag it back up.

Lock it so it doesn't happen again. Right click > Lock the Taskbar

When you have resolved the problem, I would put a password protect in place so that your son can not mess around with the computer, for the next time it might not be so easy to fix.
good luck

Right click on the area of Menu Bar

Also, click Tools, the Veiw tab. Make sure that 'Windows in taskbar' is checked in the first section.
