Cagayan de Oro (also known for its initials CDO) is the capital city of Misamis Oriental Province. It is the biggest city in Northern Mindanao region in terms of population (500,000). Whitewater rafting is the main attraction of the city. Safe? Yes if you are talking about the terrorism aspect. Petty crimes? Still managable but you should use your common sense. The presence of Nestle, Del Monte (pineapples), SM City Mall and other multi national companies is proof of the citys peace and order.

cagayan de oro is located in the province of misamis oriental in the southern philippine island of mindanao. one of the biggest cities in mindanao and is considered very safe. as in all places in the world, you should be vigilant and cautious. if you do not do anything stupid then you are fine. the people there speak visayan but can readily converse in english. the city is accesible by daily flights from manila and sea vessels by different airline and shipping companies. places to visit would be the adjoining province of camiguin and bukidnon where del monte plantation is located. eco tourism is being promoted with a canopy walk. they are also promoting wild river rafting.

I just got back from there but only spent a couple days in Cagayon de Oro visiting my fiancee's family. I felt safe and I am not Filipino. It's a nice place but nothing spectacular. The people seemed really nice but kind of shy...go to Camiguin for a few days while you are there it takes about 3 hours to get there driving and then a short boat ride but it's well worth it...

It's the capital city of Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao. Not all of Mindanao is chaotic. The media is just exaggerating. It's safe there.

i went there final march im from uk too it grow to be all ok i been there two times now to illgan city and all secure i no longer had any subject with everyone all comparable as manila get stunning look yet thats generic ..yet the place is secure at present london comparable to me ..enjo your holiday dont think of detrimental what the united kingdom Tourism board recommends to avert all however the main crucial holiday to Mindanao has mentioned that for previous 4 years i seen plenty others there too merely becoz take care as you're able to once you visit everywhere else in international
