If it's a slow version that would be Sinéad O'Connor. If it was a fast-paced version, with some set dancing in the video clip, I believe the band is named Sham-Rock, or something along those lines.
The Sinéad O'Connor version, however, only made it onto CD when she made her own trad CD, in 2002 (see link below).
The fast paced version, I can't find anything on, but as far as I can remember, it premiered on sunday morning children's tv in either 1996 or 1997
Never thought I would say this, but I prefer Sinéad O'Connor's version...
PS; good luck with getting it out of your head... especially if it's the fast paced version.

These appear to be the only recordings of this song:
* The Chieftains' and Van Morrison's collaboration record Irish Heartbeat
* The Chieftains record Live From Dublin: A Tribute To Derek Bell, sung by Ronnie Drew
* Dubliners
Hope it's one of them? x

I'll Tell Me Ma Lyrics - Sinead O'Connor
I'll tell me Ma when I go home
The boys won't leave the girls alone.
They pull my hair, they stole my comb,
but that's alright till I go home.
Chorus:
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city
She is courtin' one, two, three.
Please won't you tell me, who is she?
Albert Mooney says he loves her,
All the boys are fighting for her.
They knock at the door and ring at the bell
Saying "Oh, my true love are you well?"
Out she comes as white as snow,
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes.
Oul Jenny Murray says she'll die,
If she doesn't get the fella with the roving eye.
Chorus
Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
and the snow come tumblin' from the sky
She's as nice as apple pie
And she'll get her own lad by and by.
When she gets a lad of her own,
she won't tell her Ma when she goes home
Let them all come as they will
For it's Albert Mooney she loves still.
Chorus
