If you do a search online for medical school students and their majors, you will find that current students majored in everything from Philosophy to Business. But, most of the med students majored in chemistry, biochemistry or biology. They are doing medicine because they love science as well as wanting to help people and get a good income.

In order to get into med school, you don't have to have any particular major, but you do have to take all the prerequisite courses that the med schools require. That would probably include chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics with calculus, and a few others. These are really hard courses and not many people can get As in them. But you need about a 3.5 to 3.8 average in these courses to have any chance of getting into med school and succeeding there. So, in high school you need to take all the math courses and science courses you can. Honors and AP sections, especially in calculus and chemistry.

This is a very hard academic challenge, but if you want to be the person who holds people's lives in her hand, then you need to be the best! Good luck.
