A band called Quintessence from the early 70's. Raja Ram playing flute is the only member of the band I remember by name, he was certainly Indian.

I know Cliff Richard was born in India.
Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar on Sept 5th 1946.
He went to a british bording school in India.
