Hello, I've been married for almost 2 years now. My husband was in Iraq and recieved the purple heart. When he came back from Iraq he opened up a checking account without me knowing, I found bank statements. Now he gets a check from the Goverenment and he dont want me to know about it. He gets it direct deposit into his new checking account that "I dont know about" is there any way that I being married to him and him getting a check from the goverenment that i can get some money? Cause he now like "disabled" cause he receved the purple heart and he still works (not in military, work for a driving company). Is he allowed to work and still get a check too?

Yes. A purple heart is awarded to a soldier who is wounded in battle. The government compensates him for life. He is fully entitled to also work if he chooses, and get paid. I suggest you open up and talk to him. If you are afraid, get a third party to talk to him and settle matters. Keeping this under grips, without bringing it out into the open will burn you up eventually.

VA disability is based on the percentage of disabiility, not inability to work. There are some extreme cases where vets get 100% disability based on individual unemployability, but it would be highly unlikely that someone that bad off could work at a trucking company. See www.va.gov.

It is his money and not yours. If you attempt to get it, you are attempting theft. You sound really greedy.

Yes, he can work and receive a disability check from the government. I know guys who drive trucks and are disabled vets. The disability is done in percentages and apparently the disability is on the lower percentage side.

you might but no need he probably has a good reason for putting the money there he might just not want you to know, he might just want to work and not admit he is "disabled" besides why would you want the money its for his health, just talk to him about it.
