Is there anyway a person can purely change? I mean assume a new personality and start things anew. You know, become an entirely different person and live accordingly. Or will the past come back to haunt him......
I'm 17 today and I want to undergo a change. That doesn't mean I'm an evil person or something, looking to redeem his ways. My friends see me as an innocent and humble human being. I don't want to be like that anymore

I think that as we grow older, things about ourselves definitely change, be it our opinions, our confidence, our likes, dislikes, how we view the world and ourselves, what we want to dedicate ourselves to, etc. etc.
I don't think the essence of your personality can change though, because then you wouldn't be you!
I understand your frustration because my friends see me as innocent and humble and I'm 25 going on 26! Though, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Humility can be looked upon as a virtue by some. As for innocence, I think time and experience will probably help us grow out of that.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself especially since you're only 17. You have SO much growing to do once you leave high school - that's where the true transformation will occur.
I don't think it's necessarily pure change, but rather maturation. Your past will always be a part of you but you don't have to let it govern your present. You are who you are because of what you've been through and how you've grown up. Everything happens for a reason.
Just live your life - the changes will come naturally and unexpectedly.

You can never completely escape your past, nor is it desireable even if you could. There are many valuable lessons to be learned along the bumpy road of life.
The past can only come back to haunt you if you try to bury it. If you can find the courage to take your skeletons out of the closet and look them in the eye, then you will find that they have no power over you.
Yes you can change. You can be whoever you want to be. See life as an opportunity to improve yourself and just keep on walking down that road to self-improvement. There will be twists and turns along the way and you may even end up going in the wrong direction but just keep trying.
You don't have to shed your humility in order to gain confidence. Compassion for others is one of the highest states of mind. Education is the ticket out of ignorance and a healthy mind fits well in a healthy body. Education not only comes from going to schools and universities but also from a variety of life experiences.

Yes, there is. I did it. A lot later in life than you are...but I did it. Before, I was very quiet, shy, very content to have jobs where I worked alone, and NEVER had to talk to anyone. At age 35, I started changing---basically, because I met a person, who encouraged me to do so---and now work in sales, have to meet people EVERY day, I wear clothes I would never have looked at before, much less wear, I talk to a lot of people now, am a lot less naive....but it didn't happen overnight either. It's been a process that has happened over 5 years. Don't push too many changes too fast, it will drive you crazy. Good luck.

You can always take a different path in life.
Why don't you want to be innocent and humble?
Nothing wrong with that. Less Drama = A More Meaningful Life
