It will work fine. However, it will change the tone of your guitar. Be prepared for change. Thinner strings are more flexible... and slightly weaker. You can't pound on them as much.

They sound great, though.

I like Martin brand strings (nickel coated are good).

Don't understring an acoustic guitar. The strings will be too slack and not give a proper response. Instead ask for light guage with an unwrapped G or get Rock n Roll strings. Try a set with top E being 9's. You should be able to play those like an electric, bending and so on. Don't forget to get bronze coated. I go for Ernie Ball's Slinky or De Aggio. If it's and electric acoustic make sure you get strings that will be suitable for your pickup. Good luck and 'Keep rockin'.

Thinner is more flexible, but if your strings are too thin they will cause a rattle in the nut and since the tension is lower the neck might need to be adjusted.

Try using Martin XL gauge. Phospher-Bronze.

.10, .14, .23 (wound), .30, .39, .47

D'Adarrio, Adamas, Ernie Ball acoustic are all good, too.

Do NOT use electric guitar strings, you'll never hear them.
