I once had this really pretty teacher that everyone thought had amazing style. She always wore classy outfits that were well-tailored. One day she wore dark grey wool pants and a fitted lavender blouse...I think the main thing that keeps you from looking dowdy is if the clothes are really well-tailored..not frumpy but not tight either. Good luck!

As long as your not wearing jeans I think You will be fine. I don't know what your schools policy is, and some dont permit jeans or revealing clothing. However, it should be fairly simple to dress professionally. A pair of khaki or neutral pants, walking shorts, or a knee length skirt would be appropriate. Old Navy has some pretty cute work attire that would relate to your job, or anything owned by that company such as Banana Republic. Also, any type of collared shirt or blouse that is also not revealing. Dillards has really cuse blouses that are button up. Short sleeve or long sleeve, pretty much any pattern that's not too bold or doesn't match your bottoms. But you could also wear just plain t-shirts. As far as shoes, anything goes that aren't stripper heals, but whatever you wear make sure you can move and be comfortable. You're running around after third graders remember? Hope this helps

I was going to say something risque, like dress like Pamela Rogers (the teacher who was arrested...), the hot for teacher girl.
Seriously, you need to be comfortable, stylish, but don't have to be a fashion plate.
Too much time is spent on how you look rather than what you are teaching. My sister is a teacher and went nuts over what to wear until she realized (with a little coaching) that you are on your feet much of the day and have to be comfortable.

Be modest. Cover your breasts, midrift and thighs. Depending on what grade you are teaching, you may prefer to wear slacks. Will you be on the floor with kids? Keep in mind how you skirt may ride up if you bend over. Look at how the other teachers there close to your age dress and dress like them.
Best wishes as a teacher!

I think they should still dress professionally, even when teaching to younger children. I would categorize it as business casual. Khakis and a blouse with denim jacket and nice shoes. I understand still wanting to look your age and be cute.
Great idea is to watch What Not To Wear, they have some great casual outfit ideas.

Well, semi-formal, or smart 'very smart' casual ;)
Don't show too much of your body, don't wear clothes that are TOO colorful.
But still, get yourself some cute blouses... look good.
Check out the website below for acceptable teacher clothing, yet good looking... in my personal opinion.
I don't like it when teachers wear jeans a lot, but lots don't mind it... that's just my point of view.

I think it depends on what grade you are teaching. If you are teaching High School students, I would stay far away from dressing cute.

Dress in nice clothes, like knee length skirts, button down shirts, but you can also dress with cute accessories!
