It's just mud and general use dirt. Do I stick 'em in the washing machine or what?

Get rid of the dried-on stuff by hand (If there is any, it'll flake off really easily). Then just bung them in the washing machine and they come out amazing!

Don't do this too often though, or you might find they get wrecked far more easily than normal. They bang about a bit, but you can rememdy this by putting them in a small bag designed for washing lingerie etc.

Throw them in the washing machine - I do it all the time, don't put them in the dryer. Stuff the shoes full of newspaper, set them in the sun, change the newspaper three times in one day, and your kicks will be clean and dry.

you could wash them by hand in the tub or sink with detergent and a sponge.. then throw them in the dryer.. or leave them outside..
my friend threw them in the washer with bleach and (they were orange) and they faded to such an awesome original looking peach color.. and everyone asks him where he got them. its just an idea if you want them to look more unique..
also try spraying shout on them, that stuff works wonders on everything.
