I use compressed air (I think that's Dust Away) and it works fine. Just make sure to spray in little puffs, not one continuous stream. You can also use your vacuum cleaner/dustbuster with it's small brush attachment

The Dust Away is safe, just hold your keyboard up so it gets blown out though. There are also little hand-held vacuums with attachments that go between the keys, you should be able to find them at places like Best Buy pretty easily- i found an attachment for a regular vacuum @ Kohl's a few years ago.

Turn the power off to the computer.
Turn the keyboard upside down and shake out debris.
Use a nylon brush and glass cleaner to clean keys but spray cleaner on brush NOT on keyboard.
If keyboard is not too dirty then spray cleaner on towel and wipe keyboard off.
Allow cleaner time to evaporate before turning computer on.
Windex, 409, Glass-Plus is fine. DO NOT use finger nail polish remove, solvents made for cars, or petroleum-based products.

Turn the kb upside down and shake vigorusely. You could then use Dust Away. Then place the kb on the table, and get an old toothbrush. Moisten the brush with water, shake excess out. Brush the keys until dirt is removed.

Disconnect the keyboard, or just make sure the computer it's connected to is off... use the furniture attachment on your vacuum cleaner and suck up all those crumbs !

In the off mode, just vacuum clean the keyboard, then wipe with a soft cloth without lint. you could also use good quality tissue paper.

Well, I take mine apart and use a mild soap solution, then rinse.
If it has crumbs and junk in it, just turn it upside down and bang it lightly on a hard surface. You'll see all kinds of stuff come out.
Or, you can just pop the keys off (they come right off with a flat screwdriver or something) and surface clean with alcohol or something.
