I am in the process of ordering a new gaming computer, and am wondering if i should go with SLI or a single video card.

Last guy is so far off the mark. He is thinking of the 7950GX2, not the 7950GT. Anyway, go with the 7950GT, it will easily outperform the 7600GS in SLI. SLI is a bit overrated, it is really more of a status thing, usually just spending the same amount of money on one really good card will yield the better performance.

The 7950, because its actually a dual core graphics card.

Not dual core, it has two 7900 GPUs on one card!
