The short answer is yes! Fairy liquid is often quoted (in England, anyway) as a sure-fire way of ridding tomato plants, etc. of greenfly and white fly (aphids)

The best way of ensuring all the leaves are treated is to load a spray bottle (with a mixture of the washing up liquid and water) and squirt all over the leaves, especially the undersides. The aphids will die or go away.

Good luck,

Yes it does work.Have you thougth of another method. Try introducing ladybirds onto your plants? I usually get my kids to help with this one we go collect as many as we can and transfer them on to the plants. I have problems with honeysuckle and aphids if i get the ladybirds on as soon as i see the aphids it usually isn't a problem.

Yes, the mixture may turn out to be acceptable substitute: but the potency should be optimum, not too much!
