I've seen a couple but many of them are for new metal bands and I am looking for info on older ones, like kiss, judas priest, slayer, etc.

First:
Try finding the official website of the particular band(s) you are interested in. Use your favorite search engine, like Yahoo, for instance.
Second:
Search for "heavy metal" in a free encyclopedia like wikipedia, which explains and discusses the history of metal and has links to different bands.
