A hurricane has never directly hit the Walt Disney World resort. It is too far inland. One came close in the early 1980s and they closed the park for the first time in history. But once the storm dissapated, they re-opened it that same day.
Orlando has been known to get residuals from hurricanes. 2 years ago, Kissimmee was hit hard by torential downpours. So check www.weather.com 1 week before you travel to see how the weather is doing. Typically, October is my favorite time of the year to visit!

Hurricane season is roughly May to December.

Disney does get hit by hurricanes, but it's rare. What happens is the parks close until the danger has passed and clean-up can be done to be sure there are no hazards that could harm guests. Then everything reopens.

Remember that the summer is Florida's rainy season, so you should plan to bring ponchos, etc. to battle late-afternoon thunderstorms when you come.

hurricane season is "usually" over in October, yet maximum hurricanes that do hit the Florida coast are thunderstorms by using the time they hit Orlando, it relatively is approximately an hour's force from the two coast. The worst time to pass to Disney may be now, the middle of summer season, June by using August. After September the crowds could skinny out relatively lots, they are going to %. back up in October for Mickey's Very frightening Halloween social gathering (yet no longer something like in summer season) and the fall stuff they do at Epcot. November is reasonably sluggish, aside from Thanksgiving week, then it relatively is mobbed. between Thanksgiving and yuletide is one in each and every of the slowest situations of the 365 days, in basic terms dodge those weeks of the trip trips, and you get the further income of seeing all the trip decorations, and might even get tickets to the Christmas social gathering interior the MK. January and Feb are sluggish, March starts off identifying on back up with Spring ruin, April's horrendous Easter week, and could is amazingly sluggish. i've got heard workers tell me the wonderful months to pass are January, could and September and the 1st a million/2 of December. additionally, dodge trip weekends (like President's Day, hard artwork Day, etc.) those will draw top crowds as nicely.

SUMMER! I've been to WDW a few times during the summer and it was always rainy! The last time I was there was the 1st week in Aug '04 and the following week, the WDW resort had to shut down (I believe) because of the hurricane that hit! If you're going to go WDW, I would suggest April or May!
