To Michigan border?

From the closest city limit of Chicago to the Michigan border is about an hour and half drive.

It depends on where you are goin.

Where in Chicago? It is awful big. From South of City.

Where in Michigan ? Chicago to Detroit 300Mi 5.5 hrs
Chicago to Gran Rapids 150 mi 2.5 hrs

To the Michigan border its about 1.5 hours. To Lansing, its about 4 hours. To the east side of Michigan (thumb region) its about 5.5 hours.

Because of the traffic on the Dan Ryan, I would highly recommend taking Lake Shore Drive to the Skyway. You have to stop for the tolls (total of $3.50), but traffic is usually clear and its smooth sailing through Indiana to Michigan.

Have a safe trip!
