wow..thats hard to choose a best one because he is a fantastic writer, one of the best. but...IT is by far one of his best i would say and it still creeps me out as much as it did when it was first written!

Definitely one of the early ones. The Shining, Cujo, Carrie and Misery were brilliant. Pet Cemetery and Needful Things werent bad. But Bag of Bones, Insomnia, Rose Madder and most of the later stuff sucked. And not in a Salem's Lot type way either.

The best book is the four stories in one volume Different Seasons three of which became films Rita Hayward and the Shawshank Redemption, (Shawshank Redemption) The Body (Stand By Me), Apt Pupil (Apt Pupil) and The Breathing Method.

The best short story he ever wrote is Survivor Type in the Skeleton Crew collection.

It's a toss up over Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Misery and Bag of Bones.

Bag of Bones is an excellent book... But Stephen King's written loads!!

I've just finished reading Haunted (James Herbert), which was very good and Hybrid (Shaun Hutson), another very good book.

My electricity went due to the weather the other day so i read 2 books!!

I love almost every thing Stephen King has written! My absolute favorite was The Dark Tower Series. And Bag of Bones was awesome too!

The Stand and It spring to mind straight away. But when i thought about it i realised that there are so many different threads in many of his books i can find great bits in most of them.
I also really enjoyed Lisey's Story another example of King's storytelling genius.

I havent read all of his books but I have read a lot of them and in my opinion, the shining is his most scary book and the one that I enjoyed the most. My other 2 favourites are pet sematary and insomnia.

The Dark Tower series was wicked. Pet Semetary is the scariest though!

I love the Dark Tower as a series because it pulls everything together and the ending floored me.
