I am white and I will vote out in the open for him!

I think that some Whites would vote for senator Obama for President if they find him to be a candidate that they feel would make a good President.

However, I believe that some White Americans would dismiss him as a Presidential candidate simply because he is Black.

I'm not talking about those Whites who genuinely have a difference of opinion with senator Obama because it's fine to not vote for him for that reason, but there are some Whites who would never vote for any Black person, just as there are some men, and women, who would never vote for a woman to be President.

It's ironic that in the United States of America, where we preach about being a beacon of freedom and opportunity, some people are still asking the question is America ready for a Black president or a woman president.

It's embarrassing to think that many in America lack the political sophistication to look beyond bigotry and sexism when deciding who to vote for. Bigotry and sexism are signs of ignorance and narrow mindedness, which some in our country have in abundance.

Those who would not vote for someone because of there ethnicity or gender are possibly cheating themselves out of potential great leaders for this country.

I have nothing against White men, and some of them have been good leaders, but they do not hold the market on leadership ability. In fact, I would argue that some White men who have held the office of President were not qualified to do so.

It's way past time for many in this country to grow up and realize that a person's qualifications for political office does not reside in their skin color or gender. The texture of their hair, hue of their complexion, or what's between their legs says nothing about whether or not they will make good political officers.

Vote on character, wisdom, experience, voting record, intelligence, or any other relevant characteristic, but we should never use race or gender as a measure for who is qualified or not.

I think some will, but in the end, he won't win. It really hasn't come out yet, but I think he has too much baggage that will bite him later on. (His cocaine and drug habit just came out.... imagine what else will come out in the next year?) Many people will have a problem with this. (Fair or not, I believe that is the reality) Also, I think there are many that are STILL not ready for a Black President. No matter what, no matter how perfect the man may or can be, I think his skin color will be factor enough to influence the vote.

Not this gal. I don't like what I see. I have no guilt feelings of being white and I will vote the best person I feel is right for the job. This guy comes up short on way too many levels.

I think is about time, and yet there are too many red colored necks out there... behind the wonderful mask of religion, claiming Obama does not reflect the image of "God", and that is the field of legitimate ignorance to
tackle in a very intelligent way.

C'mon man, even though we may not care for his politics, doesn't give the right to add Hussein to his name. He hasn't done anything to deserve that. And I don't agree with his politics either.

Sadly, no one will vote for him, regardless of his views and lifestyle. Just the fact he's got a Middle Eastern name that rhymes with Osama will keep all Americans away. Sad but true.
