I am 25, have a university degree and work as a senior manager for a multi-million pound business. However, having lived as an urbanite in city centres for so long, I have been slow in getting a driving licence.

I think you should be ok as you are over 25. I think the one year rule is for younger people. I would definately ring around the larger companies and check.

I think all the big companies such as Hertz, Europcar and Avis require at least one years licence. Maybe try smaller, local companies that make their own rules as opposed to following head office rules.
