Who will win?

I'm from Indianapolis so I'm obviously going for the Colts. However, the Patriots do have a good team. Hopefully the Colts' defense is as great as it has been ever since the playoffs started.

Whar do you all think?

Belichick is simply a defensive genius. If the Pats get an early lead, I think this game will go badly for the Colts. If the Colts can keep their crowd into the game by staying close in the fourth quarter, maybe they can finally break the "curse of the Patriots" in the playoffs. Vinateri is a very valuable piece of the puzzle for the Colts and his acquistion was a very smart move for the Colts. If they had him last year they probably would have beaten the Steelers in the playoffs. The last two games for the Colts have surprised me as well as many observers who watched their defense rolled over by Jacksonville late in the season. Which defensive team shows up today for the Colts? The team that shut down a very good Baltimore Ravens team, or the team that was pushed all over the field by the Jaguars? The Patriots are the best team left in the playoffs by far and I think a Colts win today is probably the equivalent of a Super Bowl title because the AFC again this year looks superior to the NFC. Belichick and Brady is just not the team you want to be matched up against in the playoffs. Maybe today the Colts can get it done, but I wouldn't bet $1 against the Pats, their playoff history is overwhelmingly positive and this QB has demonstrated time and time again he can perform with the game on the line. Statistics mean absolutely nothing in the playoffs. Manning has monster stats and terrific receivers, but no SB rings. Brady does not have the stats Manning has or the Hall of Fame receiver and excellent compliment of receivers they have had intact now for several seasons. But Brady is just not the QB you want to see in the playoffs. My prediction is Pats 31 Colts 15. I'm still not sold on this Colts defense and watching Belichick over the years has made me respect his ability to take away an integral part of any offense with his defensive strategies. Manning has the reputation of losing in college in the big game (look at UT's record against Florida during the Manning years), and now in the pros it's the New England Patriots that have stood in his way in the playoffs and shut the door on this talented QB twice before. It is probably not fair but Manning will be judged as a great statistics QB (like Marino) who couldn't win the big game if today's opportunity ends like the previous two against the Pats and of course last years heart-breaker against the Steelers. Maybe today all that ends for Manning and the Colts, they have heard it so much I'm sure they are sick of hearing how they always manage to lose the big games. Good luck to them and all their loyal fans!!

I can guarantee that it won't come down to the kickers. For Vinatieri and Gostkowski to do what they do, they need to be set up with the field position by Manning and Brady, respectively. It will be close, but keep a few things in mind:

The Patriots have won five in a row and 8 of their last 9.
The Patriots are 8-1 this season on the road.
The Patriots are 14-0-1 against the spread in their last 15 road games at Indianapolis. (Betting terminology; basically, the Pats at least keep it close, if not win)
Tony Dungy is 6-7 in the playoffs as a coach; Bill Belichick is 13-2.
Peyton Manning is 5-6 in the playoffs; Tom Brady is 12-1.

Even considering all of this history, this game will be close. My prediction: Patriots 33, Colts 31

It possibly could be the colts. Why because most of the odds are in their favor. 1. if the colts play like they are playing they will win for sure.
2. the colts are playing home finally.

3. brady isnt hot so look for bob sanders to have a good game

4. bob sanders is playing and when bob sanders plays the colts d plays better.

5. brady threw 4 picks last time he vs the colts

6. colts are playing indoors

7. adam has never missed a field goal in the dome

8. adam is kown to be good in clutch situations so if it comes down to field goals adam is going to make it

9. colts are playing on turf so freeney and robert will go faster

10. rodney probrally won't play

11. cory dillion is not as good as lewis and johnson so the colts d wont have that much of problem stoping the run as they did in the chiefs and ravens game

I'm a Saints fan so I have to pull for the Colts Archie Manning is still the greats quarterback the Saints ever had to date. Drew Brees if he stays will be remembered like Archie, So I think Payton will throw for 375 yards & 5 TD
Colts 45
Patriots 21

If the Colts play defense like they did against the Chiefs and Ravens I believe they will win , however they are going up against a cool customer in Tom Brady and will need a better performance out of Peyton Manning to win. Afield goal at the end might win the game but I believe it will take at least 27 points to win. Vinatieri to me is the difference. Colts 27 Patriots 24.

Colts may be 9-0 in the Dome.. But remember Brady is undefeated as a Quarterback in that RCA Dome.

Patriots 31 colts 28

Without Belichick, the Colts are the better team. As much as he has struggled in the past, Tony Dungy is no "One and Out" Schottenheimer. I think the 2006 Patriots "smoke and mirrors show" will come to a crashing end today in RCA Stadium.

My personal feeling is that the team superiority of the Colts and the coaching superiority of Belichick cancel each other out and Payton Manning finally rises to the occasion and makes the difference....

It is in the DOME today! The Colts are 9-0 and Mr. Freeney (SP) is faster on that turf and Colts have the Pats Number.
