My son is 15 at the begining of February. He is getting a bike but noooooooooooo ipod ..phone pc games etc !!!!!. I would like advise on a woodcarving stuff and patterns . I am a full time artist so we are quite good with the hands . I have my own fret saw and have made dolls house Large dolly furniture etc myself. So i think it is chisels and suitable wood and a few patterns ... Perhaps a box either made or to be made with a releif carved lid ?....must be grownup pattern and not kitch And of course the wood that is suitable. Have any of you any ideas? I would be so greatful . Thank you

thank you very much but I obviously have looked on google . There are always sites advertising sites ...most in USA and with some dreadful examples.....just because one is a woodcarver one does not have to carve pumpkins and gnomes!!!!

This seems to be an interesting site. It has a lot of information that your son will need to get started wood carving. You can go to any large craft store, like Micheal's to get boxes and such, that he can start on.
