I have a deceptively simple answer to your question: "Love thy neighbor as theyself". On the surface, this has long been thought to mean that people must love others, but that is not the true meaning, in my opinion. Instead of centering the focus on others, the true meaning lies in "as thyself". I've always thought this was not an admonishment to be loving, as is often interpreted, but is instead saying that unless we are able to love ourselves we are not able to generate love to or receive love from others. My suggestion is this: Unlock the mysteries of your deepest self---the repressed seeds of fear and self-loathing that may have been generated during toddler years. This is done through introspection, through communications with trusted others, through journaling...etc. Center to a positive within your core belief system. One exercise that may help is to disrobe and stand before a full-length mirror, unadorned. Make eyeball-to-eyeball contact and say your full name slowly, following by "I like you". If you break eye contact with your mirror image, start again. Get yourself to a position of joy (liking yourself) within. This changes your entire perspective in terms of relationships with others and outlooks on life in general. Each day, recenter to a positive, releasing all negativity into the "cosmos". If you feel guilty about something, resolve it before going to bed in whatever way works for you. Learn to like yourself just as you are, right where you are, and the rest will fall into place (alignment). Hope this helps.
