You can't do it. A CD laser is not the same as a DVD laser. You have to buy a new drive.

It's all plug-and-play. The instructions are easy to follow.

type your model number on google and that small research will tell you if your CD ROM is a downgraded version of the DVD ROM that the manufacturer makes, if it is then yes you could flash it and make it a DVD drive,

if not you could always grab some DVD Roms for 25 bucks on Newegg.com or DVD burners for only abt 30 bucks

just buy a dvd-cd drive and replace your current cd drive.

It would be better to go out and by a DVD drive. You can get a DVD burner for about $50.00.

You can buy a combo drive these days that will play/burn everything.
