My friend keeps begging me to watch Numb3rs, cause she thinks it's one of the best shows on tv. So far all I've seen are the promos for it. But I'm gonna try and start watching it this Friday (I think that's the day it comes on...)

But, so I'm not incredibly lost as to what is going on, can someone plesae explain to me what Numb3rs is about?

You have two brothers.
The eldest, Don (played by Rob Morrow) works for the FBI.
The youger brother, Charlie, (played by David Krumholtz) is a brilliant (read geeky, but cute) mathematician lecturing at the University.
Don gets Charlie to help out on a lot of his cases, using mathematical reasoning.
Charlie lives with their widowed father (the fabulous actor Judd Hirsch) in their childhood home.
There are other characters; agents, a bumbling but brilliant professor from the uni; beautiful girl friday from uni (Charlie just doesn't get that she is interested in him - he's a bit slow in the romantic area).
It is a good show, worth watching and there is some clever crime-solving.
Called Numb3rs because we use math everyday in everything we do.
I have found the tv.com link for you should you like to check it out; it has summaries, cast, photos etc.

FBI Agent Don Eppes recruits his younger brother, math professor Charlie Eppes, to help him solve FBI cases. The show is basically about how Charlie cleverly uses math to solve a variety of criminal cases and the relationship between the brothers Eppes and their widower father, Alan Eppes. It's in it's 3rd year and it is a good show. I would highly recommend you watch season one episodes to appreciate some of the nuances of the show. I also think season one and two episodes are superior to this season's three episodes thus far.
