I stayed at Riu Tequila a couple of years ago. Fantastic holiday. Is everything back to normal now following the hurricane destruction in 2005.

hello,
in playacar as well as in playa del carmen all the reconstruction related to the (2) hurricane(s) in 2005 is done.the only problem in playacar is the beach.some of the hotels lost their entire beach.the "occidental allegro playacar" for example doesn't has no beach whatsoever anymore.the "wyndham viva maya" has some very little beach left....but nothing like it was prior to 2005.like you know the "riu tequila" is not a beachfront hotel....however,the beach at the "riu yucatan"-which you use as a guest of the "tequila"-is still very nice.....even it is a little smaller than before.somebody who hasn't been here before could never tell that we ever had a hurricane.
if you want more information about playa just go to the link below.very informative page with forum.
greetings from playa and come back soon,
cancundivers

i'm sorry for any misspelling...i'm german

I was on the Mayan Riviera (Playa del Carmen) for Christmas. Everything was pretty much back to normal. We had a great time and the beach was super!
