Obama! Obama! Obama fever seems to be everywhere. You can't watch any news show without hearing his name mentioned at least a dozen times. It is like he was the second coming.

But what has he done?

Oh, that is right. He gave the keynote speech for the 2004 nomination of John Kerry. Wow. Fat lot of good that did. Kerry got whupped.

Yes, Obama won a senate race in 2004. But he owes that win to the republicans. In the middle of the race, they dropped one loser candidate for another. It is not like Obama had a serious fight to win that election.

Oh, yeah. Obama NOW opposes the war. Well! How politically correct he is!

So what does Obama stand for? Well that is besides going to a beach in a swimsuit and getting his "pretty boy" face in the news.

He has met the only requirements to run for office: born in the USA and over age 35.

I agree with your analysis. People are interested because he does not have any "baggage." He does not have a history of voting and has not developed any legislation on his own.

I do not consider him to be a viable candidate. He is a liberal. Liberals who run on their views do not get elected. Example: Walter Mondale.

America, especially black America, is looking for another Martin Luther King Jr. The current black leadership does not have the history to fit the bill. Jesse Jackson had marital problems. Dr. Farrakhan has said too many negative things about white America, and the Jews to be electable. Charles Rangel is way too partisan and is all about pork for his district.
Bottom line, a black leader needs both to have a clean past, be electable, and have a national stage, Barack Obama has all three. At least, until something changes.

Sounds like you haven't done any research on the candidates and that is why this country gets into trouble. You could start by going to your local library and reading one of his two books, or both, that will tell you how he was raised and something about his values as a person.

Also, you could check out facts such as voting records, PAC contributions, associations he belongs to, and what he does in his spare time.

If this is all too much for you, then you shouldn't vote, because you are uninformed.

Not much in my opinion. I think he is more of a poster boy for his party. He tends to waffle on many issues. He opposes the war but supports defense spending. I think he is just out there to muddy the waters.

He is a black muslim with no personality I have seen, and has the most liberal voting record in the senate. He is just to the left of Carl Marx. The Democrats are really tetched in the haid to consider such a man for president.
