When you ask how can we save the world you must first ask from what and for what. The world is a lovely place and will continue but it may not be in a state fit for human habitation so how can we change it and make it better. I don't think we can, we can try to stop polluting it and try to live with the changes that will happen we can't go back. Lets stop thinking we are God.

A better place? Stop trying to fix everyone else's problems before our own. Physician, Heal Thyself.
A batter place? 10 minutes in a deep fat fryer.

We all ask this question many times a day within us. The world leaders discuss this problem every day. Still there is no solution to it.
The reason.... The situation we undergo is inevitable and it has to continue. There is an aim behind it. We are heading for a bigger catastrophe and for the peace of the world it is better to happen. The people that perish each day is meant for it and there is unknown reasons behind it. The nature itself is playing its role.
To punish a wick ed, there is another always. Both are meant for destruction. In my sight and your sight they may be innocent, but in the sight of wisdom that knows everything..... these all are to happen.
Be patient and watch where we are heading to......

Sex attraction is the beginning of the illusion summarized in the phrase aham mameti: "I am my body, and everything in relationship with my body is mine." A man searches after a woman, and a woman searches after a man, and when they unite for sex the material illusion becomes very strong. This is nature's arrangement for keeping the conditioned soul under her stringent laws.
The whole material world is based on the attraction between male and female. This principle is working not only in human society, but among the birds, beasts, aquatics, insects- everywhere. You will find that as soon as a male dog sees a female dog, the male immediately begins canvassing: "Please come, let us unite."
Therefore, in human society one has to understand by Vedic knowledge, by education, that we are bound up within this material world due to sex attraction. Unless one inquires into the Absolute Truth, a human being is no better than an animal.

This has been asked many times but here is no answer because history has to go it's course.
Humans are like an infection on the earth and when we are done we will either be cured or eradicated.

Since we all can't agree on anything in yahoo answers...I don't think your idea is likely to succeed somehow.
Further to this, since the world is being destroyed by greed and ignorance...the greediest and most ignorant would need to be removed....since that is us...WE cannot save the world.

We have to freeze the time, and finish the tilt of earth's axis to its orbit.
As time has quality to depreciate everything and tilt of the earth's axis is the one brings variations in our environment by changing the weathers.
If it is possible than there will be nothing something like loss and changeability.
Otherwise it is not possible, what are you looking for.

We could try to love others just the way we love ourselves... these aren't my words. It doesn't mean trying to simpathise, I mean, like somebody we don't like, or trying to see that evil people are not that evil, because they are indeed. It means hating the evil they do, but not them. Just like when we commit something outrageous, then repent, and see with disgust what we've done, but try to find the solution and be better people. We should act with others the way we act with ourselves. This explanation of Jesus' perfect words "Love thy neighbour as thyself" I owe to C. S. Lewis, and I recommend to you the book that contais it, "Mere Christianity".
